Epiphyllum Red Noid – Ep 1

$10.00

This one is growing well in my garden, yes it gets attacked by slugs and snails, but it grows and flowers regardless.   Just shows how much tougher they are than we realise.

Description

Epiphyllum 1 – Big Red.

Epiphyllum is a genus of epiphytic plants in the cactus family, they are epiphytic as their name suggests.

Common names for these species include climbing cacti and orchid cacti.  Due to their large bright blooms and growth habit.

Epiphyllum grows edible fruit.  The fruit is said to taste much like passion vine fruit and has a texture that is like kiwi fruit, including the small black seeds.

Epipyllums are so hard to name now, that only the ones that people acquire with names attached are recognised as true names. I have a few colours, which I will list when I have sufficient tto share.   ;So please check out the other listings to see what other ones I have.

The Red one was growing here when we arrived. Outside in all the elements, snails and slugs attack it, and rain and sun beat down on it.  But it comes away and flowers nice red flowers.

The price is for a generous cutting. They grow easily, but slugs and snails do love them.

When you purchase these they will be cuttings ready to plant.  I have cut the tip, to enable it to grow correctly.  All plants are posted bare-rooted, wrapped in tissue, then further packed into boxes or containers for the trip to your place.

When you receive your cuttings pot them up, but do not water them until you know they have started to root.  Once growing, water them well.

Despite being called cacti, they don’t like full sun and dry air like normal cacti species.

Their natural habitat is warm, humid, and shady, so try to replicate this environment and not treat them like dessert cacti.

I prefer to post out Mondays or Tuesdays to prevent plants from sitting in transit over the weekend.

Happy to combine orders.  Just contact me. If you are looking for anything specific, please ask, I may have it.
