Easter Cactus-Baby Pink

Rhipsalidopsis rosea, syn Hatiora rosea and Schlumbergera rosea.   Baby Pink – Easter Cactus

Rhipsalidopsis synonyms Schlumbergera and Hatiora  = Easter Cactus

Did you know that most of the current Easter Cacti plants are derived from just 2 species that have been crossed and crossed. Schlumbergera gaertneri and S. rosea.

Rosea has the smaller flowers like this one and gaertneri has the bigger, longer flowers.

And even within these small pink varieties these are lots of variations.

Description

These are sold as cuttings.  Section that are easily grown.

Plant them up, in whatever method you prefer.  I prefer straight into soil.

Easter Cactus, an annoying name to us NZers,  as these flowers in Spring.    Flowers are set months before, but not visible until closer to opening time.

I do have lots of different types of Holiday Cactus (Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving) but only do cuttings at certain times of year.   I like to leave them to flower, when they start that process.

This small pink one is a strong wee grower, nothing seems to bother it.
