The Creative Story Behind Makers Cavern Laser Crafts

Hi, I’m Marti, the owner, maker, and designer behind Makers Cavern. I’m based in the beautiful area of Huapai in Auckland, where I get to spend my days turning creativity into handcrafted pieces from my home studio.

What started as a simple hobby has grown into something truly special. Back in 2020, I discovered my love for making when I bought my Cricut Maker and Cricut heat press. I loved the creative process, but over time I found myself wanting to explore something bigger and more versatile. That curiosity led me down the path of laser cutting.

My first laser cutter was an absolute beast of a machine, but eventually I refined my setup and now work with my Xtool CO2 and F1 Ultra. These incredible tools opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities and really helped bring my ideas to life.

Like many makers, I’m mostly self-taught. Countless YouTube tutorials helped me learn graphic design for laser cutting, and before long I was experimenting with different materials and techniques. I especially love combining wood with detailed laser engraving and cutting to create pieces that are both unique and meaningful.

At the heart of Makers Cavern is a love for creativity and craftsmanship. I’m inspired by the beauty of nature and enjoy translating those natural elements into designs that feel warm, whimsical, and full of character. My goal is for each piece to spark conversation, bring a smile, or simply add something special to your space.

Every item I create is made with care and attention to detail, from selecting quality materials to refining the final design. Craftsmanship means a lot to me, and I take pride in ensuring each piece is something I’d be proud to have in my own home.

One of the things I enjoy most about running Makers Cavern is the freedom to keep exploring new ideas. I’m always experimenting, learning new techniques, and pushing myself creatively, whether that’s developing new products or trying something completely different.

Turning my passion into a small business has been an incredibly rewarding journey. I’m grateful for the support from customers who appreciate handmade craftsmanship and for every opportunity to share my work with others.

If you’re looking for unique, thoughtfully crafted pieces with a touch of personality, I’d love to welcome you to Makers Cavern.
